Habitly

Project by: Felix Bukoye

Project Overview

Habitly is a mobile application designed to help individuals build and maintain positive daily habits by providing a simple, intuitive, and motivating platform for habit tracking. In a world filled with distractions, especially from social media and endless digital noise, Habitly offers users a structured way to stay accountable, focused, and productive.

User Interview

To validate the need for a habit-tracking app, I conducted short, informal interviews with 5 potential users (aged 20–35), primarily young professionals and students through chats, personal observations, and feedback from potential users.

A spontaneous interaction occurred when a friend reached out after seeing the app’s home screen on my WhatsApp status, expressing a desire for such an app to manage her daily habits. This led me to explore the struggles of people trying to build and maintain habits, Understand their current habit-tracking methods (if any), and gather expectations for an ideal habit tracker app.

Key Findings

  1. 80% currently do not use a habit tracking app, relying on mental notes or paper.
  2. Many users want to develop better daily habits but struggle with consistency.
  3. The most common distractions include social media, work overload, and forgetfulness.
  4. Users prefer a simple, uncluttered app interface that doesn’t overwhelm them with features.
  5. Reminders and accountability features are highly valued.
  6. Gamification (like streaks or progress badges) could help motivate continued use.
